GWAR Frontman Apologizes To PHILIP ANSELMO: 'I Hurt Some People I Really Love And Respect'
November 15, 2004GWAR frontman Dave Brockie (a.k.a. Oderus Ungurus) has issued an apology for his scathingly negative comments (Story#1, Story#2) about former PANTERA/current SUPERJOINT RITUAL singer Phil Anselmo and his girlfriend Kate. Brockie's statement, as sent to BLABBERMOUTH.NET by Adrenaline PR, reads as follows:
"I want everybody to know that this past weekend I personally apologized to both Phil and Kate for the erroneous, vicious, and inflammatory remarks recently made by myself. That shit about Phil trying to score dope on the bus happened at least eight years ago and is ancient history. Kate has always been just our friend and never anything more (though she hates me now, I'm sure). The only reason I vomited forth such crap is because I felt my band was under attack. Since talking to Phil over the weekend I realize that, too, was bullshit. I was goaded by the press and lashed out in anger, falling totally into a trap. In doing so, I hurt some people I really love and respect. I would even apologize in person if given the opportunity, and seeing as we are headed to New Orleans on our current GWAR tour, I hope Phil and Kate would consider that as an option to mend the pain I have caused. Once again, my full and most sincere apologies to Philip Anselmo, Kate and all concerned. Long live SUPERJOINT RITUAL, long live GWAR, long live metal!!!!!!!"
